Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police have asked individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
