Ukrainian Forces Initiates Large-Scale Manufacturing of Novel Defensive Drones

Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative domestically developed interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more preparing to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Situations

These UAVs utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” designed to neutralize Iranian-made drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated effective “at night, under jamming and flying low,” officials confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and wicked” following six people were killed and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Russia intends to manufacture up to 120,000 guided aerial bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, among them 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that is capable of targeting additional urban centers. Russian forces have been launching hundreds of aerial bombs per day, with the previous month's daily average being approximately 170, according to defence ministry data.

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended crude shipments on Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had fired Neptune cruise missiles and deployed multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukraine additionally struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

Global Restrictions Impact Russian Energy Company

The number two oil producer Lukoil said on Friday it is negotiating with interested parties regarding its foreign assets after last month’s restrictions from Western nations and the collapse of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil stated.
